Ok....what did I buy? AC replica identification.

Just bought this replica. I dont have possession yet as its being shipped.

The car is titled as a 1965 AC Cobra which of course its not.
Engine is a 429.
The brakes are early Wildwood style indicating maybe a early to mid 90's build?

A couple things stand out and I know some pieces are missing like seatbelts, factory style rear view mirror, weatherstrip around hood closure, etc.
The inside exposed edges of the door are unfinished but painted. The rear end is a Ford 9" and I believe Mustang II suspension.

The dealer did some digging and thinks it may be a LA Exotics build but that was just a guess.

Someone here may actually know this particular car?

Anyway this is my first and my first hot rod. Currently building a 3200 sq/ft garage for other toys and planned on getting something when this came along. Carl (Fritz) Schiffmayer was a friend if some of you know him. I believe he was the last original when he passed away. I lusted after his Cobras many times. Im looking forward to playing with this thing. No track use. I live near Sarasota and hope we have a long dry season this coming year :-)

It looks like it may not have a drive shaft safety hoop. If not, you might want to add one - just in case! Have fun.

Front overriders are installed upside down.

I thought something looked unusual about them! Should be an easy fix.

I see 4 things that should help identify this car:
1. Original type british door latches, mounted upside-down.
2. Raised area for mounting area for front turn sig lites.
3. Moulded recess for glove box opening.
4. Mustang front suspension.

The yoke doesn't look like it's in the trans that far. Car looks great. Enjoy DRIVING it :D Nice Buick sittin in the back !

I have a 36" inseam. 6'4" 240lbss but not fat. Its going to be tight. Being an auto will be easier for me.

Not sure you would need weather stripping but McMaster Carr has a good selection.

Not sure of the car's exact detail because my computer is blocking photos on the forum for some reason - but you have to be careful on weatherstripping around the engine compartment hood. Sometimes that clearance for weatherstripping is very tight and if the rubber is too thick it can hold the hood up. Best to first measure the thickness with some dabs of clay to see what thickness will work. I used a thin, flat weatherstripping approx. 5/32" x 1/2" on my ERA which is actually close to what the originals used. But as noted above, many prefer to install a few small sections of weatherstripping to protect the paint and position the hood and leave the rest open to help vent hot air out of the engine compartment.
