Storage
Any suggestions for storing your Cobra if you don't plan to drive it for 3 - 6 months?
|
Gas additive. Keep it on a battery tender. Overinflate tires to keep flat spot. Leave your self a sticky note on the steering wheel to lower them later!
Better to run it to operating temp every month or so if you can. A short drive if you can. |
Fuel stabilizer
Change oil Check antifreeze I like to put on jack stands to avoid tire flat spotting and premature drying. |
Luckily I have a convenient source for premium no alcohol fuel, so I filled it with that. With that fuel stabilizer is not needed.

does that fuel stabilizer really work? specific brand recommendation?

I top off the tank, add sta-bill, change the oil and pull it in to the car capsule. This capsule model has a built in battery tender that will also power the fan for the bubble for up to 30 hours in the event of a power outage.

I pull the plugs and squirt oil in each cylinder then spin on the starter to coat valves and cylinders with fresh oil. I then pull all the rockers to take pressure off valve springs and keep all valves on their seats to prevent any corrosion. reinstall plugs and put antifreeze in cooling system to protect the aluminum. Also remove wheels and store on jack stands as well as all the other normal stuff like fresh oil and filter and draining the fuel system. I have a disconnect switch on the battery so that seems to be enough to protect from discharge.

I'm a big believer in battery tender.
and I like the suggest to pull the battery and store it using a battery tender |

Mine will not set for 6 months. Don't want to deal with seals dry start up ect ect ect. What I do is put on optima battery charger, put unleaded race gas in tank ALL the times it's going to be idle for a while. If going to use , like during the summer I will use pump gas and then go back to race gas for months that it will be used little. Hand roll car back and forth regularly and air tires every two weeks. Car pushes with one finger, no big deal. Take car for short drive every month, drive until water And oil temp come up to normal. I have not had problems with any of my small engines or cobra because I use race gas. Tired of rebuilding carbs on lawn mower and trimmers every spring. Tired of rubber lines coming apart. Have not had problem with bladder in fuel cell on cobra because I use race gas. I like having car ready to go any time I want. Oh and I still use white lithium grease on spinners and have for 20 plus years. Just took off rim on other car and came right off after 5 years on. Wipe off old grease with rag spray carb cleaner on threads, apply lithium grease and good to go, not messy like anti seize, I HATE that stuff. My car has been on road 13 to 15 years, replaced battery's once and probably didn't need to just did to be safe? Race gas has two year shelf life. Sorry so long just trying to be helpful.
