Things to watch for
 
Whenever I take my backdraft out , I do a walk around. In performing my task I noticed a scoring on my rear drivers side rotor. Thinking it was a pebble from some asphalt I went for a spirited drive.my car snap steered so bad it raised the hair on my neck. You could say my spidey senses were tingling.I pulled off the rear wheel witch took a 911 tool way past the 25lbs limit and 50 blows with a 6 lbs lead hammer! I removed the caliper and found no problems. I rocked the rotor from side to side and noticed a lot of movement. So I decided to remove the center cap and noticed a bolt laying inside.It came out of the axel. I was able to reinstall the bolt to 150 ft lbs of torque . I have the new style axles from backdraft .The car only has 3000 miles on it,so I believe it was not tightened correctly . I still love my car just want people to be safe. The only thing stopping my wheel from coming off was the caliper.Hope this helps my fellow cobra owners. Hauss.;)

No I did not I am the 3rd owner car is a 2012. I don"t even know who I would contact.

Glad that you found it before something bad happened. I always do a check of my car after driving it and check all bolts to be sure they are still tight. The vibration and hard driving tend to cause bolts to loosen.

The problem with my situation only showed up when the car was in the air.So I would recommend folks to jack up rear of car and check rear tires for any unnatural movement .

I had a similar thing happen on my Formula Ford autocross car about eight years ago. The hub had cracked but things were still together. I did not notice anything unusual until the wheel came off. Like in your case the caliper on the disc had been holding on and did so until the center came out of the rotor... and I spun to a stop.

The hub had actually fractured and came out in five pieces.

No fun!

What are you saying? I have a cracked hub ? I did not notice anything I retorqued to 150 ft.lbs. %/

I'm not saying anything. Sorry I did not mean to set off an alarm....just reminiscing.

Your comment about the caliper holding it on sparked the memory which I shared.
