can anyone help??

twobjshelbys 03-28-2019 05:02 PM

Do you think they are valuable? Probably not...

I believe the Rebat batteries were used in some (maybe all?) factory prepared SC and comp Cobra 427's. They mounted behind the right hand seat in a special frame to hold them in place. That's about all I know as far as batteries goes and I'm not even sure that's the facts.
Your batteries will most likely have to be rebuilt but I have no idea of value. They look right though.
Sorry I can't be more help!

From memory, there have been several threads over the years covering mocking-up batteries to look like Rebats (here's one - http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...y-mock-up.html ) so I would think that if originals are available for rebuilding, that would make sourcing an original looking battery (because it is original) that is actually functional much easier....so they should be worth trying to sell.

Cheers,
Glen

Are the original Rebat black or White. ?

LMH 03-29-2019 08:00 PM

As far as I know, the original batteries were black.

Have the "NOS" batteries ever been activated? (had acid put in them?) If not , then they may still be usable.
As a acft mechanic in the 60's/ 70's Thats all we saw was "rebats" and some were white on the sides, black on top. Those may have been the smaller R-25's. Also some (the later ones?) had black caps.
The S/C's and comp cars had the batteries (2) end to end behind the pass seat. Must have been the R-25's due to the smaller size.

I know everyone is aware of the fact that the internals of these batteries are dangerous, be they new or old. Proper handling and disposal of plates and acid should be considered. Special shipping is required IF they can be shipped at all? Batteries can release hydrogen which is very explosive.

the batteries have been without acid for many years,

i can ship them without a problem

thank you

What are these batteries on the back of this car in the lower left?

LMH 04-01-2019 11:15 AM

Is that a bungie cord holding the batteries in?!!

I believe that is the “flip top” or “turd” cobra in the photo and I have seen photos with the batteries relocated from that rear position. Probably as a safety issue...being so close to the fuel tank.... Blas
