When disassembling and reassembling an HP carb don’t do this

So I figured it was time to take the mixer apart, clean it and put it back together...which I did, I thought successfully...

A word of caution, these things are set up with no real front to back on the main body when looked at by the casual observer with one significant exception; everything is symmetrical except for the power valve ports between the throttle and main bodies, put the main body on backwards and they are blocked causing all sorts of weird tuning issues...

The main body on an hp outwardly has some female threaded holes on the secondary accel pump side, other than that they look pretty much the same but for asymmetrical power valve ports underneath that need to line up with the asymmetric ports on the throttle plate!

Sometimes you feel like a nut...and no that’s not a “good towel” I think...

Looking at that picture I can see where it would be easy to put it back wrong. I think I would take a permanent marker and make a mark on the front or back if I had to do it as I would for sure put it back together wrong otherwise.

One of those silly things...

At some point back all the way out of all the steps and retrace them carefully...

Boy she runs night and day better with the carb on the right way!

since you have oblong holes in the base plate--did you have carb mounted sideways on manifold?????

Had main body 180 degrees, an hp main body is absolutely symmetrical with the exception of power valve vacuum ports...
