I like that, turn the key, see if it blows up and, if not, check for leaks. Yep, after all these years I still do the exact same thing.

Congrats!! Sounds nice. There is always that dread after you complete a build wondering if it will all work well.

First startup should always involve a timing light.
An engine with a cam like that would need some timing and carb adjustment.

But still sounds good.

Bet you can't wait to drive it.

Gary, more accurate would be for me to have said, first time it was started in car, in the UK. The engine was built by Barry Rabotnic at Survival, dyno tested etc after a long and tortuous 2 year journey that wasn’t any of his fault. This was the first time I had heard it running and I’m delighted with the work he has completed. I was particular about the sound and he’s delivered everything I asked. Great FE builder.

Nice car and the engine really sounds great. You are going to have a lot of fun ahead.

Oh the joy!
I remember mine like it was yesterday...
I imagine the apprehension you describe is natural.
Well done and congratulations

Congratulations, Timo!

Beautiful car and I know a mountain of effort to get to where you are. Impressive start and wonderful sounding engine. I especially like the tone of your exhaust. What kind of mufflers did you use?

wow go for broke!! lol what else can you do. I agree Gary, at least a timing light, screw driver, and a distributor wrench. In any event he prepared well and it sounds good and clean. Nicely done ac ventura

The mufflers were my design based on a design called DIVER (anacronym) originated by Custom Chrome who make the Cherry Bomb on the UK. The exhaust is 2.5" dia, and the casing 3.5" x 24" long. Basically the first half of the exhaust is a concertina zig zag of perforated plates, with the second half being classic glasspack. The ends of the unit we made D shape to clear the crossmembers. Like most Cobras, it's very difficult to get a neat looking underfloor exhaust on a MK IV and this is a fair compromise.
