Oil leak at valve cover breather

Drove the Kirkham on the track and noticed a burning oil smell. The I drove it 300 miles this weekend and noticed oil smell when entering or exiting freeway ramps. I found fresh oil around my drivers side oil breather vent.

Looks like I may need a catch can?

Any advice?

No, I'll just give the solution instead. Use an ME Wagner adjustable PCV and a Moroso oil separator. You will eliminate the problem and your engine will run better. We had a recent thread on it all here: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/fe-t...puke-tank.html but I'll include a pic of my setup below. It was a very satisfying mod, for a number of reasons.

Keep in mind the system Patrick has shown there helps with keeping oil out the intake while at light throttle, normal PCV operation, when the other side of the engine would be supplying air to the crankcase.

This fresh air can be via a filtered cap on the valve cover, or a large hose to the air cleaner.

When on the loud pedal, the air flow is reversed, since blowby is much higher under load, and PCV can only flow a certain figure.

So if you have oil around your breather cap, best look at the design of the filter/cap.

Smurf_GT -- Do you ever find your dipstick suspiciously loose as if it has been pushed up and out of the dipstick tube a bit? That's a tell-tale sign of crankcase pressure and can be caused by a clogged (or just non-breathable) valve cover cap over on the driver's side of the engine.

If it's just a little leak on the outside, the spectre grommets from amazon worked for me.
