Vintage Vinyl decals blowing off - Help!

What’s the trick to keep these vinyl vintage decals on the car so they don’t blow off? I sprayed stoner glass cleaner on the back, applied to the Cobra and let them set for a day and still had a couple small ones blow off. Thanks.

I had mine on for months at a time, never came off even in rain?

The only thing I can think of is I should clean any surface wax thoroughly before applying. I use a nano wax product that is really slick.

The smoother the surface the better the cling. The cling is not adhesive based it is static based. The surface you apply the sticker to (and the sticker) must be both clean and dust free. Any foreign particulate matter between the sticker and the surface it is applied to will diminish the clnng factor. Like Joe (1985 CCX) said, once properly applied even rain will not wash them off.

Did you squeegee all the glass cleaner off after applying the decal? Use a credit card like a squeegee and run it over the decal to remove all bubbles.

They aren't using the adhesive versions. They're using the static cling versions. I suspect it is very hard to keep them on at speed, but the adhesive ones aren't hard to remove (you just tear them up doing so).

Yes, I was referring to the static cling version. They should be applied with something like a detail spray on the body, then squeegeed with something like a credit card. Even large ones in the 10", 12" diameter stay on.

Cool. The Raceline Digital graphics are applied the same way.

I've used the cling decals nd the best way to make them stick until you want to remove them is use Windex. Spray the spot you want to apply the decal, wipe it clean. Wax doesn't matter. Spray the car with a couple of pumps of the Windex and apply the decal. A soft rubber squeegee from the center out to remove all of the Windex and air bubbles. Wipe gently with a soft cloth and go for a ride. I've done 140mph with small, 4"X4" decals to large meatballs. They won't move until you peel them off. I had and adhesive backed Terlingua decal blow off at average road speed once a corner peeled and the clings ones stayed.

Thanks guys. I'll use the windex and squeegee with a credit card.

Squeegee's are also cheap to buy and will help eliminate scratching with the CC. They can also be found on Amazon etc. The felt edge is nice for non wet applications.

My wife's spatula works great for this!
