Added an ERA to the stable

I picked up an ERA to give company to my old Midstates. A great friend offered me an opportunity to take this off his hands. Wow, this ERA really drives and handles well. This is definitely the best driving Cobra that I have ever had the pleasure of driving. It has an Atomic EFI Fuel Injected 351W in it. The EFI needs some tuning and side pipes were rattling pretty bad so I have them off doing some upgrades. I have other plans to change up a few things from a period correct stand point as well.

Congrats! Beautiful car.

I came from a Shell Valley which is essentially the same as the Midstates. The SV was a good car but the ERA is in a whole different league! The stiff chassis, great ride, and handling make it very comfortable to drive for long periods. Enjoy!

Nice - red is a good choice. Stands a better chance of catching the eye of other drivers even when their nose is buried in their cell phone. Love the FIA wheels.

Nice, tell us more

Mike_I 08-24-2019 08:20 AM

Thanks for all the kind words!

The Chassis is #2008.

Engine is .040 1969 351 Windsor with Edelbrock Heads / RPM Air Gap intake
and Edelbrock Cam. I believe this is the 400HP Top End Kit that Edelbrock sells for the 351W.

MSD Atomic EFI.

Tremec Transmission

Traditional Jag IRS

Brand new Avon's

FIA Wheels

The side pipes had an auger style insert that was rattling pretty bad. I have the side pipes apart now and Classic Chambered is making me some replacement inserts for the side pipes.

The EFI feels like it needs some tuning. I hope I can iron it out as I would really like to keep the FI on the car. It is throttle body based so it looks very similar to a carb.

Good luck with it! I am sure you will get the EFI straighten out pretty quickly. Happy Miles and Smiles! Art

Ah! ERA2008. I considered buying that back around eight years ago (and didn't proceed because of import difficulties in Australia).
Nice car, Mike. It's an early ERA FIA, and had benefitted back then from a comprehensive rebuild.

Here's an earlier picture of it:

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Thank Glen! Yes, the car is very nice and pretty well sorted except for the rattling sidepipes and FI tuning. The car also has tons of high end goodies. (hoses, fittings, tremec trans brass radiator etc...) Its also super clean on bottom and top.

Thanks, Mike

Nice car! Nothing like a red FIA. Check every bolt and enjoy. Take your time with it. Should be a fun car.

Jim
