Carroll Shelby Interview
Almost through a good interview on Youtube provided by "MyClassicCarTV".
Title is "Carroll Shelby - The Lost Interview" 1 hour 38 minutes long...interviewer is decent but a lot of missed opportunities to ask better questions. Struck that Shelby was very willing to give credit to anyone that deserves it. At one point he stops the interview to get the name of a guy, Homer Perry, that deserved credit for steam rolling the GT40 project through the Ford bureaucracy. Interesting fact: he never wanted to do the 427 but felt like he had to because Chevy had the 350 in the Grand Sport; the 289 didn't have the power to compete. Supports my contention that the 351w (or maybe the Cleveland) is the perfect engine for Cobras. |
I recently watched that. I learned a lot about the man and his cars. I also wondered what he would have done if there was a 351 available at the time.
