Ford's new 7.3L 446ci engine
This engine really looks promising. In its infant stage now for aftermarket but that will open up pretty quickly I'm thinking.
Stock its 430hp/475lb-ft Iron block Forged crank 6 bolt mains variable displacement oil pump About the same size as 351w but 67 lbs heavier. Road and track--->https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...th-basic-mods/ mustang and fords ---> Ford I'll be watching closely as it may end up in a future build I'm considering. |
Yes.
It almost looks like they've updated a deep skirt, crossbolt, side oiler FE427 with high riser heads, and a 428 forged crank ! https://www.hotrod.com/articles/insi...3l-pushrod-v8/ Is it history repeating itself ? |
Take a look at the attached links in my post. The top link has videos showing dyno + tear down details of all the main components.
The bottom link has details on internals after 3200 hours run time. I get into the tech side of things so I really like seeing what makes it tick. |
All looks very nice, but this statement of 9 cam bearings does not appear to be true, it looks more like typical 5 bearing camshaft:
"The cam features 60mm bearing journals, and speaking of journals, there are 9 of them to reduce or eliminate deflection." |

So, with this head design, with the intake ports nearly pointed straight up, is there much of an issue if you deck the block, mill the heads, with the intake matching up ?
|
No more so than any other 90˚ V style engine block.

But if the heads/block are skimmed excessively for custom builds, then the ports will get closer by the proportionate amount. |
