Cobra Accident

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I thought I would share this incident. I saw this car and driver, a few weeks ago at a local San Diego Cars And Coffee, and just learned that the driver passed away last week crashing his vehicle. This event is unfortunate, and since I just saw him a few weeks ago, it hits home. I don't know the driver's name, but my condolences and prayers go out to his friends and family. Stay safe out there!!

Another bold step forward in terms of cleaning up the gene pool ...

Even with an original 380HP 289 these cars are killers — especially if you disrespect them (and yourself). That admonishment has been made umpteen times on the site here. Put in a 500 hp replacement for that 380HP engine and the potential for an unhappy ending increases disproportionately.

Some folks believe it and drive accordingly others, well, not so much. This driver obviously fell into the not so much grouping ...

Would be good for all of us to show some respect here. I did not know this gentleman nor do I know what caused his accident but I don’t think it’s appropriate to declare to the world that his death is good for our collective gene pool. I have made my share of bad driving decisions and while I don’t know if that’s what happened here, even if it is the case we should respect his memory, his family and friends, and all the good that I am sure he did in his life.

Thats an awfully cold hearted thing to say when we dont have all the details on what may have caused this tradgedy.
:(
As a professional traffic collision figure outer I’ve seen some pretty crazy scenes that on hindsight were the result of NOTHING to do with driver error. This gentleman may have been incapacitated due to a medical condition, he may have put himself into a tree to avoid hitting an object/pedestrian, or he could have been done in by an unforseen road imperfection like Paul Walker.

Kinda harsh not knowing all the facts, eh?

After talking to one of our members, that knew this gentleman (Sol) and reading the post's on the FFR forum, I highly doubt this man was at the bottom of the gene pool. His build post, was highly informative, he was a innovator in many of areas of his build. Also was well aware of the (700-760HP) under his right foot. Something could have just broke, or as Speed said something unforeseen happened. I for one say RIP Sol, you will be missed by your Cobra Brothers.

i think your comment about cleaning up the gene pool is out of line and bull crap you got no reason to make a comment like that

After watching the aftermath video i would have to say that excessive speed had a factor in this wreck. This probably wasn't the first time that he was "enjoying" his car. This time it seems to have caught up with him. I would guess up until the last 10 seconds or so he was having a blast! RIP.

I knew the guy and have gone on many runs with him for several years. This man was extremely cautious, and responsible with his Cobra. Inn fact, I don't think any of our club had ever ween him get on it. This incident is waaaay out of character for Saul. We're thinking throttle problem.

My reply wasn't to ruffle your feathers. It was a simple statement from observations. His car did not disintegrate and unfortunately kill him at 25 mph. Like you say it could have been a throttle issue. Heart attack, scratching his foot on the pedal, foot stuck between throttle and brake,,,,,, whatever it was, my statement wasn't to upset you.

Virtually 99%+ of these horrific accidents do not happen at or below the speed limit. When the car is as badly disintegrated as that one is and the vids are reportedly showing an apparent lack of respect for the road condition(s) let alone speed limits for surface roads, considering the vehicle and power level, my comments ar right in line with where they ought to be. That car did not just suddenly start to accelerate w/o the intervention of the driver.

The driver was in control (at least for a while) and he did not exercise either good or responsible judgement. This guy was a danger to innocent bystanders (which fortunately there were non in the immediate crash vicinity) and himself. Ultimately he paid the price for his bad judgement — which when you think about it, is the way it should work out. What really hurts is when an innocent bystander gets injured by someone like this, when they should not, only because they were out taking a walk on a nice day.

Ed, you're going out on a limb without info of what actually happened. I feel pretty safe going out on a limb in saying you're a heartless, inconsiderate, a$$hole.

I am glad I don't associate with people like you and I mean that sincerely.

Well...seems like everyone's had their say...nuff said.
