Found this behind my rim today
1 Attachment(s)
I took my tire off today and found these rubber molded inserts behind the rim. They actually came out when I pulled the tire off. Were these just left in when they made the rim. It seems like they do not do anything and there were only 2 in there.

Those are there so you don't inadvertently insert the pins into the big void between the pin holes and not realize it. The back and forth movement during operation on the highway would loosen up the spinner and you'd loose a wheel without warning. While all 5 inserts would be nice, all you really need in there is one. It's a nice safety feature.

I'm not familiar with this. That said, with two of the five voids filled, if the wheel lands incorrectly, it would be more noticeable than if all five voids were filled.
