Oil pan gasket advice/choice (351W block)
Hey Guys!
I'm still down to my last oil leak on the car- Roush 427R motor with 38K miles. I already changed the oil pan gasket once to a 1pc blue rubber fel pro.. but it turns out my oil pan flange is the dimpled type, which I was told does not like the 1pc rubber gaskets :( Can anyone recommend a good 4 piece oil pan gasket or even a 1 piece that works to SEAL it once and for all? BTW, it does leak in a slightly different spot than before, but it still leaks :( Any tips for installing a 4pc gasket? The 1pc went in pretty easy with those plastic threaded guide stud things that came with the gasket. Thanks! -Dave |
If you have a dimpled pan, use the Milodon 1-piece gasket. I use it in conjunction with a thin layer of silicone on both sides. No issues.
If you want a 4 piece gasket, the Felpro cork gaskets also work. |
Make sure pan is as flat as possible, tipping over on garage floor is a simple way to check, many times the area around the bolt holes become deformed from tightening the bolts. Felpro rubberized cork will compensate for minor irregularities.

I did check the pan last time, it seemed pretty good, and also has two plates on the sides which the bolts pull up on.
I'll look into the milodon gasket first, thanks! :) -Dave |
