Le Mans Gas Cap

As I am moving forward with my build of my Classic Roadsters drive train project I have started to look to "what's next".

The previous owners of the kit had never added a gas cap thru the body. The tank is installed and the filler tube is stubbed up to just above the top of the tank. I have the filler tube with a stock cap and the Le Mans style flip cap cover to mount over it. But the CR 1 body did not have the recess in the fender to countersink the Le Mans cap into a round well. I know many years ago DV had supplied customers the fiberglass piece that you could add into the fender to make it work.

Now I am open to suggestions as to where I might look to for such a piece without having to make a complete mold myself.

Find a can the right dimension or plastic bucket ..turn it upside down....it's your mold...

Have someone make a simple plaster cast for you to make a fiberglass part from !!

I can whip a free one up for you ( not CR specific), but I got a few projects to get shipped out first as soon as the lockdown ends, if you are in a hurry, I cant help you rite now,

Thanks Bruce! No hurry and I can rework it to fit if its not exact, I woke up thinking of calling you today! And then I see you posted this!

Happy to pay whatever cost you incur for it!

I'd be happy for one to install without recessing. Does anybody have part information on doing that?

Hi,
I cut my own hole above the tank filler. Similar to an fia cobra but not as far to center.

Highplains,

I had thought about that location. But I decided to recess it as on the 427's.

Br Bruce sent me a fiberglass well! After locating it, cutting a hole and gluing in in from underneath I have the recessed well I wanted! Thanks Mr Bruce!

I still have to add some more glass to the underside and fill & smooth the recess. But it will look great!http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=18966
