Suspension bushings or rebuild kit?
Hi all, I have a Contemporary 427 SC with, what looks to me to be the Jag suspension.
I'm looking to get it back on the road after sitting for a long time. I had the wheels off the other day to attempt to hit all the grease spots and noticed the condition of most of the bushings is very poor. Some were nearly entirely dry rotted away. They all look to be in bad shape. A couple zerks were seized and wouldn't accept any grease. Others took it too well and were probably bone dry to begin with. Boots on the (CV?) joints were disintegrating. The drivers side front shock (Koni, I think) went full droop after a day or so suspended i assume it has a bad seal too. At this point i think i will need to replace most if not all of the bushings in the front suspension. Probably the shocks (might as well while I'm in there...) Can you guys recommend a source for an appropriate rebuild kit that someone might offer? Or at the least, is there a particular retailer that has a good selection if I have to piecemeal order replacements? Thanks! |
xks.com has standard and urethane rebuild kits.

Edit: I just checked the Energy Suspension site (who sell a lot of red urethane bushings), and they don't even list Jaguar - so above comments may be moot. |
I've had problems with black urethane crumbling over time, I went back to rubber.

I bought rubber ones for the rear end in my E-M about 15 years ago from these guys. www.peteandjakes.com It's worth a try but they may want dimensions rather than manufacturer. It's a free phone call.

I've also had Energy Suspension motor mounts (red urethane) melt like wax due to close proximity to an exhaust header. Switched to solid mounts there.
