Want photos of Soft tops altered to fit over functional rear braced roll bar

I bought a soft top kit from Everett-Morrison many year ago. I'm getting around to making it all work. The soft top will not fit over the functional rear braced roll bar. My shop was told by their upholster "it would be not much more to make another soft top than alter the original soft top". Over the years I've seen some pictures of altered or different soft tops that would accommodate roll bars with rear braces. I've seen several different soft tops pictures years ago. I want pictures of soft tops that would fit over a functional rear braced roll bar to show the person that be building me a new soft top.

Please?

ERA has a couple pics on their install Guide of moded 427/289 tops.. both a bit fugly.. I think the tonneau is the only cover used with the OE placement of the support leg. Most kits have the leg placement further forward allowing it to fall within the lift-a-dot radius. OE street car used tonneau/soft-top, but no rollbar.

Michael,

Ya mean like this?

I fits just fine over two rear-braced roll bars. It's the stock E-M top.

It seems that nobody has installed a soft top over a high roll bar with rear brace. I had seen phots a long time ago and hadn't saved. Now seems it never happened..

Factory 5's are about the only ones with tall rollbars. Perhaps check their sections, or FFCARS.com. Their rollbar leg is not OE position, so you may still run into issues if yours extends beyond the common lift-a-dot radius.

thank you

Sharp car nice do. The wheel wells full of tires. Things I noticed, right hand drive ,under car exhaust, no sign of side curtains and just leave out the rear window. No bad weather but car cover fits . I saved the photograph.

The car is an AC Mk IV, with a unique design hood. It has perfectly fitting side screens and a clip in, acrylic (rigid) rear screen. Everything is designed to be stored the boot (trunk) as in this picture and does not significantly decrease luggage capacity. The aerodynamics of these cars mean wind noise and marginal weatherproofing in the rain, at anything over 70mph. The original owners manual instructs drivers not to exceed 50mph, lest hood lift pulls the fasteners out of the alloy bodywork. Check out the thread ‘New design soft top’

I had a 56 Bristle back in 71-77. I remember putting my then, wife to bee's, hard sided suit case on the soft top and her arm out, holding her it, as we drove from the buss station. In Iowa in the winter. The trunk was consumed with the gas tank.

Hi Michael

Two pictures of my hood. It was assembled by ERA Replicas CT in 1999 and fits very well.

I'm sorry but the 427 cars mostly used rear braced roll bars some are short and not much taller than the drivers head and others like mine are a little taller and are harder to fit under an original styled soft tops If you would ever use a soft top. I want to. My roll bar is thick walled and painted black as if I were betting my life on it.
