Seat angle
 
I am planning to put back the "Stock" cobra style seats in it. The angle of my back is laid back too much. I am thinking it should be closer to 90 degrees. Is there a recommended angle for the back?

10-20* is usually about right. I like it closer to 10*, but that's me. I find straight up to be really uncomfortable.

It all depends on what you are most comfortable with. I have my FFR seats raised over an inch at the front. Some do it flat on the floor. Just be sure to use strong bolts into strong sections of the frame. FFR puts in a plate. The seat bolts can pull out under heavy load (like a collision).

Original leaf spring cars used a wood shim, basically 1/4" thick at the front and 1/32"at the rear. I don't know if Cobra 427's used the same shims though.

I'm still using the fiber glass buckets that came with the car . Back when they were inclined backwards by wooden wedges under the seat. I tried the adjustable sliders and decided that lower was a better choice than adjustable. I'm the principle driver. I don't loan it out. I did replace the wooden wedges with aluminum brackets that I made. I lifted the front of the seat about 1 1/2". The seat is twisted slightly towards the pedals.. Driver side has a dead pedal on left. Passenger needs dead pedal too brace the passenger into their seat or they will look like a rag doll. They will also need the grab handle on the dash.

What I am interested in though is the angle between the base and the back without regard to the flatness or angle of the bottom of the seat to the car. The seats in the cobras I can see look close to 90 degrees.

The angle between my seat bottom and seat back is 90 degrees. The seat leans back about 20 degrees.

I have a Breeze seat mount in my car. That angles it back a bit. Then I also have a 1" piece of aluminum under that. I am not sure of the angle, but it feels right now.

When I mentioned 10-20*, that's what I was talking about. The angle between the seat base and the seat back.
