Csx2203?

Can anyone shed light on the following picture which is identified in the text as being CSX2203? I am intrigued as to why the car appears to be identified as CSX2138 by the handwritten sign.
2203 is/was owned by Ernie Nagamatsu (hence the reference to "Ernie"), and Ernie "acquired the original aluminum hardtop used on CSX2138" according to the Registry. Attachment 34979 Anybody know more of the story? Cheers, Glen |
It could be as simple as the wrong placard (or purposely so) put on a car in the yard for a photo shoot to show a car being prepped for shipping to NY.

I looked up CSX2138 in the registry and found (in brief) … unpainted as requested with body modifications, fit with hard top … shipped to N.Y. 6/27 abroad the “SS American Commander”. So I suspect that the car in the photo is CSX2138 and that it looks like CSX2203 hence the reference, just a guess of course. |
It's CSX2138 in the original post. Most Cobra chassis had an easy indentification placard affixed in the grille nacelle before leaving AC Cars. There are many private party and factory pictures, unpublished and published, showing new chassis on both ends of the shipping process with placards in their nacelles.
In the Registry it states that CSX2203 acquired the hard top from CSX2138 at one point in time and used it until Larry Miller obtained the top to reunite the top with CSX2138. |
