Hello all,
I’m in the process of building a Shell Valley Cobra and after 6 months finally got the engine and trans installed (Blueprint 408 and Tremec). I now have moved onto the hydraulic slave clutch mounting but have ran into a wall. The kit came with a Wilwood pull type slave. The instructions are ok but don’t provide the type of info that would help me. With the clutch fork/TOB approx an inch from the clutch fingers, the slave rod runs thru the hole in the bell housing back to the slave cylinder....and there in is the problem. No where to mount the slave valve body. Plus the clutch fork swings in a slight arc adding to my frustration. You can see in attached pics how it lines up or lack thereof.
My questions are...
1. Has anyone else had or have a similar setup that I can copy ?
2. Any recommendations on how I could or should mount it ?
3. In regards to #2....I’ve read that I should keep the slave closer to the trans to avoid engine vibration or interference. Yes or no ?
4. Would I be better off changing to a push type slave and mount to the trans ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem has been solved. Get the Mike Forte kit.

John, I'd give Mike Forte at the Forte Parts Connection a call and they may still sell the pull type kit. At looks like they've moved on the Push type slave kit on their site.

Adding a aluminum angle to the engine mount base will get the front of the Cylinder mounted. Pics and details here...

The fork-arc issue can be addressed with a universal swivel at the fork connection in a 5/16-24 size. https://www.mcmaster.com/swivel-coup...haft-rod-ends/

If you have a few fabricating skills and some initiative, the Forte design is a nice weekend project. From the pic it is pretty simple.

Thank you all for your help. I looked at Forte’s slave kit and it looks to be a great solution. Im thinking about fabricating my own mount, but I may switch to a push type slave as that gives me more mounting options. If all else fails, Mike will be getting a call from me.

If you can pull it off and do a push slave, they're not susceptible to coming apart. There's lots of stories of the threads unscrewing on the pull types and you have no idea it's happening until one day the clutch goes to the floor with no resistance.

Thanks for the advise. I just ordered a push slave and it should be here Wednesday. Just in time for me to start working on the mount.

Nine years on a Mike Forte pull cylinder and a QuickTime bellhousing and still quick shifting without a problem in 2020 . Call Mike !
