Break open that piggy bank. I'm sure it will go for a real steal this time.

The Wilks Brothers in Cisco TX own that car, and a extensive collection of 1st one made and only 1 of its kind cars. They used to be a customer of mine.
Seems they've fallen in on hard times as fracking is in decline and they are selling some of their Montana ranches now as well.

I wonder if anybody put any miles on it or did they just park it in the garage and admire it?

I met the Shelby employee(s) who built and test drove that car for Shelby at the saac meet ? 15 years ago. It was built to compete in this long distance highway race? LA to LV ? Anyways, also was at Barrett Jackson in 2015 when it sold there. Fantastic ! Thinking about going back to Bj next month.

They had a couple of mechanics that would exercise them. Their sons had matching tweaked GT500s and matched Lingenfelter ZL1 Camaros they'd grudge drag race.

I don't think it will get what it got the last time. First, the auction scene is severely constrained - only bidders and consigners (and guests) are allowed on site so the "powered by alcohol" crowd is absent (not that it applies to this car). Second, the high end is generally down. But all it takes is two that want it.

Sold for 5.5M (5M+10%)

Did anyone see who got it? I didn't even set up the recorder.

I guess $5 million is what that car is worth. Pratte paid $5.5 million in 2007. If you factor in inflation, it is losing value.

And in this case the "willing seller willing buyer" paradigm is in full force, since the car had a reserve and the reserve was met - either because that was the agreed reserve (or lower) or it was lifted at the end. I didn't see it so couldn't see the back and forth.
