Bleeding Master Cylinder with Remote Resevoir
Hey everyone
I am installing a remote reservoir system in my car. No big deal pretty and straightforward. I have bench bled many a master cylinder in my day but never a remote one that does not have a reservoir on it. Can it be done outside of the car and maintain the Integrity of all of the system to prevent air from entering or am I better off installing the entire system in the car and bleeding it that way. I am leaning towards the latter. Anyone have any experience with it. Thanks Fred |

This is how we Bleed the MC ....as you can see we just use a union to attach the Reservoir to the MC.... Always Bench Bleed the MC before installation.... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Bleed_MC_3.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Bleed_MC_2.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/Bleed_MC.jpg |
Bleeding.
Thank you Morris. The brake master is my concern. There are 2 inputs and they are press fits. What happens when you remove the reservoir you temporarily hooked up for the bench bleed and install the BMC in the vehicle. I have to hook up 2 reservoirs with 2 braided lines to the BMC. Those braided lines I am connecting will have air in them. Won't that cause a problem or will the BMC stay primed when I put the fluid in the remote reservoirs.

When we bench bleed the MC and we get all of the air out of the MC....then I remove the Reservoir and cap the MC input & the input with caps. Then we install the MC and when you hook up the lines ...yes there will be some air in the lines, so you have to bleed the system in the car.... If you don't bench bleed the MC.... and you install in the car .... there is a chance that you won't be able to get the air out of the Master Cylinder.... and the pedal will not pump up. Then you have to remove the MC and bench bleed it anyway.... Sol Bench bleed it prior to installation and then you know the pedal will pump up quickly ...and you can move the air out of the lines by bleeding the system... look at the photo's and you'll see the cap and plugs we use...just -3 & -4 Caps... Hope this helps out. |
Thanks

I will rig something up to bench bleed the MC using the press in AN fittings and the two remotes. I will cap the AN's and the brake lines before installing in the car The "not getting the pedal to come up" would be a problem.
Thanks again. Fred |
