The body style dictates the engine.
For a slab side or FIA, you need a small block. For a 427 SC, nothing but an FE, either 427 or 428. For either one, get as much power as you can afford. You don’t want to get bored with it in a year and regret you didn’t get more. You can control the gas pedal to drive it like you want. |
I'm with Rockbit 100%. I have an FIA car with a SBF I turned every bolt on. She's slowly becoming my car. My car is thirty years old. Bought her three years ago.
Funny thing, my business neighbor has a Lamborghini and sometimes we park side by side. The kids going to his practice want pictures in my car because of the "Cars" animated movies. The parents want pictures with the Lamborghini. |
My first Cobra had a 302. Then I stroked it to 354 made 420 rear wheel hp/tq.
I put thousands of miles on a 408 530 hp / tq Cobra. Drove a couple of 482 and 487 FE Cobras. All are different and all are FAST. For the first time Cobra owner I would suggest a 408 with 500 ish hp / tq. |
Thank you everyone for all the great feedback & advice. I am scouring the internet hoping I find one as close to what I'm looking for. If anyone knows of one going up for sale, please let me know.
Superformance MKIII Color preference: Titanium, Viking Blue, Guardsman Blue, Green Ideally SB100 (for California ease of registration) Open to engine options Thanks again! |
