Radiator expansion tanks - what colour ??
GDay All
What colour are the radiator expansion tanks for the 427 competition and S/C Cobra’s meant to be. Always assumed black or chrome but I recently read a reference that referred to the picture of an original S/C as having the ‘Proper Ford Corporate Blue’ expansion tank !?!! Best Regs from Oz |
Black and not too shiny.

After doing a little reading, I guess there were some SC models that came with Ford Blue engines. 1966 Fairlane 427 assemblies. I don’t think that was the majority though, so you can’t go wrong with black.
Ive never seen chrome used originally. Owners may have plated them but that wouldn’t be original. Larry |
Some tanks have a “cad plated” look.... but not sure how original that is.
Where are you at with your search, and your research? Cheers Glen |
Blue or Black for S/C is accepted and correct. Depends upon date car was completed.
