Steering lock - how to limit it?

I’m in the process of checking over the front suspension and steering on my car before I “sign off” on that area.

I can’t see any way of limiting the steering lock so that the tyres don’t scrub (on the chassis / inner guards/fenders) at full lock.
There’s nothing that I can find in my assembly manual.

Any ideas on how the amount of lock for the steering is typically limited?

Cheers,
Glen

spacers in the steering rack control stops. Your car is stunning.

Can you explain more about the spacers and how they can limit the rack movement?
Thank you for the comment.

Cheers,
Glen

Sy,

I've used those spacers on my cars. They're fine if you want a temporary solution but something more durable is needed for the longer term.

The problem was that when I got into a rapid movement situation on a track where they got pinched strongly, they would pop off and get lost. In other words they really can't be used as bump stops.

A completely circular spacer would probably be more likely to stay in place, but the ends of the rack would need disassembly to get them on.

Maybe someone else has found a better solution?

This is the solution:

Mark,

That would be ideal in a hard plastic such as nylon. As it is, steel may be too solid and a possibly destructive to the rack and/or seal.

Have you used those successfully long term?

Tom

Not had access to ClubCobra for a few days.

My steering rack-and-pinion is a reconditioned MGB unit, so I'm thinking that if it was originally fitted with spacers, they have been removed.
I'll source the spacers and report back with the result.

Cheers!
Glen
