Another Passing (Gordon Chance) RIP
I'm sorry to report, we lost another treasured Shelby Family Member, with the passing of (Head engine builder) Mr. Gordon Chance. I was fortunate enough to call him "My Friend". You may well know his history or not, he at least left us a small part of his life, in his book "Raceman". He led a life many can only dream of, He was known as "Ricky Nelson" in the shop for his slick back black hair. Being a (Large) part of the winning 66 LeMans race, he built all three of the winning motors. His early start at the tender age of 17 tuning Ferrari & Maserati's @ Hollywood Sports Car. I could go on & on, but if you have a chance to read anything about this Great & Kind Gentlemen, the time will be well spent. Gordon, Rest In Peace My Friend, your up there with the other Greats now, and you will not be forgotten. Your Friend Tom.

Well put Tom, quite a life lived. A Washingtonian done well no doubt. It was a privilege to meet Gordon and hear some of his stories first hand. I admired him through his book, written in honor of others, it spoke volumes of him as a person.
Please give my best to Sharon, she and Gordon shared quite a life together, and she’s certainly proven a saint in recent years. RIP Gordon (forever The Teenage Tuner). You will be missed, but remembered fondly! Brent |
R.I.P Gordon
