New member intro

I was just added to the site and am still in the searching phase, but I wanted to say hi and thank you for all of the info. I am in the market for a Cobra, I am in AZ, I’m 6’4” 220 and have seen that all kits are different and I may or may not fit. I am comparing building my own and buying one as is and making it my own still. I will continue to search before asking questions, any input or recommendations are welcome.
Thanks again for letting me join

John,

Welcome aboard. Good luck with your search and let us know what you are finding and any questions that you may have. There are a lot of knowledgable people here, and plenty of opinions...;)

Welcome. Fitting you in a Cobra may take some ingenuity.

Jim Vander Wal 10-04-2021 10:09 AM

Ingenuity perhaps but not insurmountable.

I have large friends with Cobras. Some will remove the spacers under the seats and maybe move the seats as far back as they'll go. Others find different seats.

There are also longer wheelbases cars, longer than the standard 90". A friend has one, he likes, it I don't. Have driven it and can barely reach the pedals and not tall enough to see over the steering wheel. I'm 5'8", the owner is about 6'2".

Where there's a will there's a way.

I share those attributes (closer to 240) and fit just fine in the Shelby CSX.

Sit in any car you decide to pursue. Pedals and steering wheel position vary. I fit just fine in a Shelby CSX but the Superformance steering wheel hit my lap.

It helps to know your budget.

There are tons of Arizona Cobras, and boy are they active. Hook up with some of them. They go on drives at least every week. I'm sure if you met them at one of their gathering points you'd be greeted with a guided tour.

I am 6'3" 250 lb and I fit in a Superformance Cobra. They have dropped foot box's and I am not positive but I think the steering wheel is somewhat adjustable up and down. Call Hillbank Motors and talk to Doug Campbell.

Welcome Matt, as some have said, look up the Az. guys great bunch even Karl (Karlos) ;) They are always up to no good, and would be happy to let you tag along, most have owned Cobras for years and can help you find the right one. I can help from the PNW, as people now come to me, to help sell theirs. The biggest issue is Price. What can you spend on your Toy? Min. for a decent Cobra is 40-50K, after that the sky's the limit. Please tell us what your after, we're here to help, Cheers TommyRot.

Hi Matt and welcome to the insanity. These guys are always willing to help. As you get to know them, you will begin to understand that they are not always....shall we say HONEST. In this case they are giving you good advice. We are.always willing to help, whether you want/need it or not.. eh Karl? We have a pretty good cross section of types and manufacturers so I'm sure you can find something that fits. Come on down to any of our events and meet some.of the folks from AzCobras. You may decide you don't need that kind of "help". Oh, before I forget, be careful of that TommyRot guy. Is that what I was supposed to say Tommy?

I couldn't have said it better Danny Boy ;) The Ajo show, how far away is that from Prescott or Yuma ?? Mike C (Our Member up here). is picking up my new Cobra in Prescott (Next week, fingers crossed), He's leaving today (Wa.) for Yuma, with His Cobra in tow (For the winter) and will run my mine back up for me (Trailered), I thought maybe he could do the show, in mine or his next week, if he has time. Cheers TommyRot.

I’m 6-3, 220. In buckeye. Lonestar fits me great. You would be welcome to see for yourself.

Danr55 10-09-2021 10:19 AM

Tommy, Yuma is about 1 1/2 hours from Ajo. Why don't you come get your car and drive it back? You are welcome to stay.with us for a day or three.

Alfa02 10-09-2021 01:00 PM

Thanks Dan, Karl & Scotty said the same thing, nice to know we have friends in Far Away Places. Brent & I thought about it, but with no top or even a Tonneau cover, and being Oct. ??? Maybe if we were both in our 30's, but I for one HATE getting cold & rained on. That's one reason, I sold my FF for a tin-top Alfa to go Vintage racing, in your 50's+ I didn't look forward to putting on a wet driving suit for the afternoon races. We plan on being at the Texas show in April, a bunch of us trailer down to Yuma, meet up with (You) Az. bunch and we drive to Texas and back ? you like that idea ?? TommyRot.
