Cobra 427 tool kit.
1 Attachment(s)
I am selling my beautiful tool kit for a Cobra 427.
This toolkit was painstakingly assembled over the years and contains all the correct and mostly original tools and a reproduction tool bag. Probably concours quality. Contains: Correct Elora wrenches and the VERY RARE correct clip Girling brake bleeding wrench (reproduction from Acton) Correct BDS pliers Correct BDS screwdriver (reproduction) Correct Tommy Bar Correct hammer (new stock but accurate) Correct grease gun Reproduction tool bag but accurate. If you've ever chased these tools on e-bay you know how hard it is to find them and how much they cost. I am asking $2500.00 plus $50.00 shipping for the tool kit. Cheers Greg |
Toolkit comments
This is a beautiful toolkit. A couple of comments for the seller:
1. The brake bleeder wrench is unlike any I have ever seen in an original Cobra toolkit and unlike the ones Nick Acton currently sells. 2. The tommy bar is unlike any I have seen in an original toolkit. 3. The ferrule on the screwdriver (the metal piece joining the shaft with the handle) is unlike any I have seen in an original Cobra toolkit. 4. I don't see the "BDS" stamp on the pliers. Is it on the other side? 5. Very nice wrenches. I can't see enough detail to completely evaluate them. 6. Nice find on the spring clip for the wrenches. 7. The bag looks very nice. Material is modern and different than the original kit bag. So, a beautiful toolkit, but not a "Concours" toolkit if the judges know much about the originals. I base my comments on over 30 years of research on original Cobra tool kits. I currently own 2 original cars and have owned another 2 in the past. I have photographed, measured and documented original Cobra toolkits for decades so I have some experience with them. That is not to say I know everything about them. |
Hi Jim. Good eyes. And craps to me. I grabbed on old/wrong pic from my files.
The screwdriver is wrong too. I have all the correct parts and will repost with more detailed pics. Thanks for pointing that out. Cheers Greg |
Hi again Jim. Here are two pics that I hope you can confirm are good reference points.
A tool kit from 427 Cobra CSX3320 but missing the elusive screwdriver and the brake bleeder wrench. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0_tool_kit.jpg And a tool kit from a 289 Cobra CSX2337 http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Tool_Kit_3.jpg Good starting point? I'll repost my tool kit pics later. Cheers Greg |
Hi again Jim. Did the original tool kits come with the little yellow "tuna can" Girling Brake Bleeder Kit?
Cheers Greg |
Hi Jim. Just took pics (I'll have to resize them all for posting) which I'll post later.
This time with all the right tools. But I have to ask Jim. What have you got against "mushroom head" Tommy bars??? LOL Can I cut the head off and make it correct? LOL Cheers Greg |
Greg, The toolkits did NOT come with the yellow Girling can. TY=he new photo in your ad i8s correct except for the tommy bar. I am working on measurements and getting confirmation from a one owner Cobra kit before I send them to you.

There are two topics on this same material now.
