SHELBY COBRAS:CSX 2001 – CSX 2125 Book Review
 

I just wanted to share a brief review of this set. I received mine this week directly from the author. From a price perspective the $250 sounds expensive but once you get the books and see the quality of the material, hard covers, heavy paper with tons of historical color photos you'll understand it could not have been cheaper. Mine came packed with 3 outer boxes inside boxes to protect them. The box was so heavy I was trying to remember what car parts I had last ordered.

Now the content itself is incredible. The amount of time the author spent researching these early Cobras would have been in the thousands if not tens of thousands of hours. As many details and history on each vehicle in one place as each present and previous owner(s) would make available. An unimaginable beginning to how this book set came to be starting with a dumpster in Germany full of old photos and details on many of the cars. If you're like me and always wonder about the history of a Cobra when it comes up for auction now you can look it up every time one of them comes up for sale.

If you have always been mesmerized with the Shelby Legend like I have this will provide hours of enjoyment. I would recommend purchasing directly from the authour Bob Walker rather than the publisher.

Well put and I concur that is my exact experience and perspective. Mine arrived yesterday, signed by Robert, and is everything I'd hoped for. A quality production and it's already sucking me in with great interest.

Oh sure, you couldn't have said the books are the worst you have ever seen, and you wouldn't spend $2.00 on them if you had to do it over! I swear, the Gods of the internal combustion always know when I am low on cash, and they just want to pick on me personally! Well, if I don't buy them, I know I will regret it big time in the future. The Ed Hugus book is also worth the money! Every true Cobra lover should know his story!

I received mine mid of November and spent many many hours with the book since then, it is worths every $ or €.
Not every Cobra story is up to date, especially I miss some actual photos and storys from the cars that are in Europe now. Also the quality of the pictures could be better in some cases.

yes they are, that photo is on page 342 and its probably one of four cars 2033 2024, 2028 or 2031, that arrived together during the October billing period, there are also other pictures of that batch. Many photos are for sure also in the book "The Ed Hugus Story" from the same author...

Yep, same car. Bruce is not a fan of red cars. He had McCluskey restore it to competition spec in black.

no, he didn’t, he restored it to random hotrod specs, not to any of the period racing specs, but nevertheless my favorite Cobra ;)

Thanks gentlemen, I believe CSX2345 is my favorite race Cobra (Not that I'm bias ;)) but SCX2129 is right up there too, since I was a passenger in that car (8YO in 1963) with Mr. Ken Miles driving.

Bruce did buy the car at the Retromobile in Paris and this is how CSX2001 did look at that time.

What a fabulous read. Robert Walker has done a marvelous and painstaking
job researching each of the first 125 Cobras...warts and all! Each car gets
it's own story. All of the trophies and all of the wrecks. All of the color changes
and all of the restorations... and over restorations. Some remain perfect and
some are just air cars with nothing left of the original but a few body panels
and a partial frame section. The gentlemen owners and the scoundrels are
all in these two volumes. This will keep you entertained for many hours.

You are right, it will be a very exciting read! I think this book will be in great demand in the future. It's not just a piece of automotive history, it's part of a unique legend.
