Jag Front Suspension question.
Hi fellow Cobra enthusiast.
I’m looking at buying a Cobra kit in the next few months. It’s a G Force kit here in Australia. It will use series 3 Jag front suspension arms, my question is are the XJ40 (89 XJ6 ) front arms an alternative? I have gone blind trying to google it but I can’t find any info.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't answer your question unfortunately but i will comment that as an owner of a jag suspended cobra the components are extremely heavy for a car that weighs 2/3 of the the Jag. don't know your regulations but i would have new A arms made up of suitable tubing, keep the upright and have an Aluminium Hub made with Aluminium callipers - the reduction in un-sprung weight will be huge.
I have the Al. hub and Willwood calipers and the difference is very noticeable - the ride is noticeably harsher so I could use softer springs and damping up front for the same suspension frequency as the original.

A Jaguar E type Series 3 front suspension has forged aluminum A arms and torsion bars. Series 3 in Jaguar Etype terms is a V12 and weighs about 3000 lbs.
If the kit uses Series 3 XJ sedan suspension parts, those are much heavier since the sedans weigh over 4000 lbs. Dave

Forgot to say re my previous comment - your question is one the kit manufacturer should be able to answer.

I agree that these suspension components are very heavy for a small light car. Once the car is finished and registered, which in Australia can be very difficult the suspension will be one of the first parts to be upgraded. I was going to ask the manufacturer if this suspension is ok to use but since there is a bit of time before I purchase I really didn’t want to bother him. G Force is a one man business and while he is extremely helpful and happy to answer questions I know he is very busy.
