Sweet machine!!! My guess is $248k. Already over $90k with about 6 days left.

To bring over 200k, it would need Alum. body, 260/289 and 4speed. Done this way, which is a better driving car, I'd say 160-165K.

Seeing that it's almost an identical build for the SPF 289 roadster I just sold, I figure 140-160K just so the new buyer can say "I own a real Cobra" %/:LOL: .

It really depends on how bad the top two bidders want it.

Bill has owned more Cobras than anyone other than Carroll Shelby. I would listen to him. He is like the E.F. HUTTON commercials in the 70's. When he talks people listen. (Laughs)

While I'm not a huge fan of the 289 body style, the BAT "looks right" (Bristol) crowd do come out in droves, at least in the BAT comment section.

I wince everytime I see comment in the BAT section that has "back in day" or "when I was a kid." Comments such as these are like "fingernails on a chalkboard" to me. No one cares. Oh, and then there's always the discussion of whether to call them a "slabside." Again, who cares. It's a free country, call them whatever you want to call them.

Anyway, I'd think because of the silver/red color combo and the dearth of 8000's running around, 8036 may get $175,000-180,000. The previous owner sold it for a Dave Wagner-built Kirkham, so you know 8036 was done well.

I know the previous owner and I am familiar with the car. A very nice car and well cared for by the OO.

I also knew the previous owner and can vouch for the above statement from Rick ;)

Is it me or are the side emblems riding a couple of inches high?

Yep. There are several sources with the correct placement of the emblems. Several minutes of checking/double checking got mine pretty close

Don't forget the other comment of 'how these look so much better than their 427 bretheren, which look like they're on steroids'. Ugh...spare me.

This car was at the Rods & Roses car show this weekend in Carpinteria, Ca. Stunning! All original (read the placard). Wonder what it is worth.

My apologies for the side view. Not sure why the photo flips when I download it.

1985 CCX 07-04-2022 06:48 PM

My guess $127,500

kanuck 07-09-2022 12:01 PM

RodKnock 07-09-2022 12:24 PM

I’ll take a bow now. Am I good or what?
