I mostly agree - but you'd prefer electric over an LS? I've never been able to comprehend such fervent loyalty to automotive marketing brands. Neither did Shelby apparently - the old man sourced whatever he could from whichever manufacturer was willing to work with him. Given the packaging / size advantages of the LS over the Coyote, I'm sure if the Cobra story was happening right now instead of the early 60's, the odds of him going with the bowtie option would be pretty damn high.

As witnessed that he used mostly GM components for the off-the-shelf parts, including engine, in the Series 1.

I'd prefer a Briggs and Stratton over an LS.

Good example Tony! I tend to forget about the Series 1, lol!

My favorite story showed that the AC Ace was destined to finish it's life with a V8 stuffed in them. At AC Dennis Hurlock fired a letter off to GM, at about the same time, so the story goes, Carroll was on top of Pikes Peak, talking to the GM reps, they both had their eyes on the new Buick aluminum V8. Of course, there was a third party with deep pockets, Rover, and we all know how that ended! Cheers, Dennis

I have a "Street Beasts" replica purchased in 2002 which I finished in July of 2004 which as of last night just went over 10k miles on the Summit purchased Ford Racing 460 535HP crate with Tremec TKO II and Lakewood scatter shield. Ford 8.8 rear with Moser 31 spline axles and main caps with C-Clip eliminators and axle tubes welded. Aerospace components 4 piston billet calipers with 12 inch discs at the corners. Nitrous in the photo in my profile has since been removed. Future plans include removing the "GM" column, changing to rear coilovers while removing the shock towers for added clearance of wider tires so I can reinstall the nitrous and not kill myself. I'd like to maybe replace the 460 as I have a .040 "A" scratch 428 block that will most likely get a Scat stroker kit, Lykins hyd roller and TFS heads, unless I go the route of BBM's 427 side oiler block they say they will have in March. Before this all happens I need to finish my 66 Fairlane GT and start on a recently purchased 69 Mach 1 that I will put in my 428 Cobra Jet short block with Lykins' roller, TFS heads and Edelbrock Performer RPM that is pictured sitting on the stand in my gallery. Now back to the thread topic shall we?
