Stuck Fuel gage after foam removed from gas tank

Getting a Cobra this week and it has a stuck fuel gauge. Previous owner had the tank dropped and the foam removed and had it welded back up. Stuck just below 1/2 tank. We filled it today and it stayed at the same spot. What can I do beside trying to tap the tank with the rubber mallet trick. Thanks so stoked to be getting an Cobra this week. My Italian Girl (Maserati Coupe GT) is already getting jealous of the new girl with all the curves.

Could be a lot of reasons. Start by pulling the sender out, and make sure it moves freely.

agree 100%, take sender out and see if it moves. could hook up a meter to leads and check ohms to verify the sender is bad or good.
