Mechanic Needed - Walnut Creek, CA

Hello,
I recently purchased a Superformance Cobra with 351W engine.
It is leaking small amount of oil.
Can anyone recommend a mechanic near Walnut Creek, CA.

Thanks,
Leo

Hello Leo,
Congratulations on the purchase. The fun starts now!
Where is the oil leak? Might be something simple.

Leo, while there are issues that a qualified mechanic / repair shop might be needed for, a small oil leak is not one. These cars will continually make demands upon you for various levels and types of service. If the oil leak is a bridge too far you might consider your choice of automotive play toys. There might be a better choice for you other than a Cobra replica

If the oil leak is from the crankshaft ends then you are looking at a fairly significant cost time wise to fix for a single piece oil seal installation. If it's from the sump edges maybe 3 hours to fix. If its from the inlet manifold edge or timing cover then maybe 5 hours to fix plus new gaskets.

Any fix might well fail and even worsen the leak - seriously consider whether the leak justifies the cost of repair. It would have to be really significant before I tried to fix it as V8s leak oil - its the nature of the beast

To the extent that the FE engines have an adage:

Q: How do you know a side oiler is low on oil?
A: it stops leaking

Windsor were better but even my new pond block seeped a little.

Your choices in Walnut Creek are somewhat limited. I suggest going to breakfast on Saturday at Clementines and asking some the guys there. Ask nicely, and you might find someone with a lift and knowledge to help you for the price of a few beers and lunch.

I would highly recommend San Ramon Valley Imports 925 838 0991. They have done an excellent job helping my uncle maintain and repair his turbo Supra. When I went there they were doing extensive work on a Mustang street rod and other performance cars. Rob the owner is very knowledgeable, reliable and honest.
