I used insulation I stripped from 20 or 22 gauge stranded wire.
My wheels were painted so I used the yellow.
Ps. Had my wheels not been painted I wouldn't have bothered.

I use neoprene (or any rubber) hose. About 1/8" I.D.
Found clear hose on Amazon

Originally, my car came with clear rubber hose. Take a look at this link and you will be able to find something a little fancier. I used blue and white to match the car. I also used larger sizes to cover my engine hoses. Gives the engine compartment a nice finished look.

Clear 4mm plastic tubing in the area of the spoke. Dirt cheap and clear so not really noticeable. Bought a meter and cut roughly 150mm lengths.

Just put on loose, it is meant to be a check and not actually a back up plan for tightening correctly.

Same here, except I used black on standard Trigo wheels.

I don't suggest that anyone follow my former plan.
I tried many of the solutions listed. Finally gave up and followed a racers solution. Which didn't include the safety wires.
I'd install the spinners and hand tighten while off the ground. Don't smack 'em in the air, just not enough resistance to lock up. Then I'd lower until the tires were touching the ground and tap the spinners. Once fully supported I'd hit 'em again. After a short drive I'd hit 'em again.
Never had an issue. Two SPF cars and about 50k miles this way.

Just put some heat shrink on that section of the wire.
