Looking for CSX3243 owner
CSX3243 was used in the Gumball Rally movie. A collector contacted me and indicated he has acquired the trophy also used in the movie and thought the owner would love to have it. Does anyone know how to contact the current owner? If so, please get back to me and I'll get the info to the collector.
Regards, Kevin |

I have a number of things from the movie, scripts, counter cards, etc, if the owner is not interested, I would be, as I've been gathering parts to create a clone for quite some time. Bill S. |
Hi Bill,
I got a PM from someone who knows who the owner is, so that's in the works. They also called dibbs on the trophy if the owner doesn't want it. I have no idea what this collector is asking for the trophy so I'll pass along your interest - you never know.... Kevin |

Hi Bill,
Here is a photo the collector sent me. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ef2ab950_o.jpg Also, it's not my place to name names without their approval, but someone on this forum has made a very detailed replica and may be able to share details. I'll pass this along as well and maybe he can help you with some aspects of the project. Kevin |
Kevin,
I have all that, and more, it's the close up pictures I'm after of the base and turtle, from multiple sides, otherwise, I have everything else......If of course the owner of the CSX3K car does not want it, I'm interested. Bill S. |
As always Bill, glad we're on the same page ;) Pictures to follow. Cheers Tom.

As most of you know, the movie was based on the real Cannonball Sea To Shinning Sea race. Here is a fun article on the race! Sorry, no Cobra in sight. Be sure to go back to the top and hid hide text, for a fun photo of the motley group! https://allamericanracers.com/first-cannonball-run/

A lot of us 10-14yo kids kept Oscar in Cam-Am cars back then ;) His Bible "Auto-World" kept us kids in the newest cars (1/24th) in the Slot Car World, By the way I was PRDA member :) https://www.hemmings.com/stories/201...kis-auto-world

As a little car-loving kid on a tiny Caribbean Island where; with the exception of a very small number of Mustangs, one Chevelle LS6, a couple of Camaros and one '68 Corvette; the hottest cars we got to see in the flesh were Ford Escort Twin-Cams (I still like those), Vauxhall Viva Gt's and various Triumphs, a copy of "Auto World" was like a gift from the gods themselves! Thanks for the memories!

I have never seen one of those Escort Twin Cams in the flesh, and I only heard of Vauxhall recently! I think some of those cars would have sold great here in the State's, like the Escort Mexico MK1. I have been watching a show many of you probably know, Miss Fisher's Modern Murder Mystery's. Not a bad show, a female detective in Australia during the early 60s. But it is the 60's right hand drive American cars I love the most! Some large ambulances and the like, and she drives an Auston Healy as you would expect, but it is the Falcon police cars, station wagons and Ranchero's that I love the best. And why didn't we get some of those beautiful Ute's? Cheers, Dennis

"The Grail"
Update: How do I start to describe the "Crazy Journey" I've been on in the last 48-72 hours ;) "Kevin2", you're a one in a million gentleman Thank you for ALL your Help, you will always be known to be part of this !! ;) I do now know the (Holy Grail) Gumball Trophy, is the "One & Only" and this is the REAL ONE :) Everything we have learned, from let's call the Gentleman (Chris) since that's his name, came out correct, from who he got it from, to who he knows, and the business he's in confirms that. I've been asked what kind of gentleman he is ?? The best way to sum him up "He could be a Cobra Owner" ;) I know a few guys bought a Cobra because of this Movie, not Chris he bought a Ferrari Daytona, and then a Ferrari Daytona Spyder, instead of a Cobra :) Now we come to what to do with it, we both agreed, it needs to be shared, and not put back away in someone's collection, never to be seen again :( As he relayed to me, he paid a "handsome sum" for it, and just needs to be "Whole again" We believe, the best two places, would be "Shelby American Collection" or "The Cobra Experience" Now I don't know if either could afford to buy it outright or??? Any Ideas Guy's. Give me your thoughts? Nothing is happening anytime soon, as he is enjoying the time with it and the other pieces that came with it> as always Cheers Tom. P.S. Never thought I would be involved in this Historic piece.

By the way the Shelby American Collection DOES display things owned by others with credit so if someone wanted to loan it they would probably find a place to display it. I had it all set to display my Ford GT over the winter of 2013-14 but then the flood happened and I couldn't get the car out of my house due to flood debris. And yes, it went on for a year. Won't make it to the party this year again due to travel conflicts. We'll arrive Sunday but won't make it to the party due to a conflict on Friday. |
CSX3255 was also used in the Gumball Rally movie, and suffered severe abuse, repairs paid by Warner Bros., according to the SAAC 427 Registry, 2020 edition.

They were race cars. The real originals were wrecked at the race on Saturday, hammered back into submission and back on the track the next weekend. |
