Contemporary ID help please
Have a everything seems right to be Contemporary can not find a cvx number, at a car show a guy that seemed to know what he was talking about pointed out looking down the front the drivers headlight is further ahead than the passenger in relationship to the nose, anybody with a Contemporary confirm this? Thanks

it will have a Serial number on the left front frame in front of the shock post

If you mean the driver side headlight if further forward vs passenger side, I don't see a really big difference from side to side. Mold lines are 1/2" different from side to side. See link to photos.
https://imgur.com/a/4oxqrh0 CCX marking on frame is in behind driver side wheel between the shock tower and rear control arm tower on coil over front suspension. With tire turned fully right you can see the stamping Mike |
Back in the late 90's I purchased a Contemporary frame from someone. It had been sitting for awhile and was rusty. I had my sandblast guy clean it up and when he was done the serial number on the frame was no longer visible.
This was after Peter had sold the company to Burtis and Burtis ran it into the ground. I never found out if it ever got completed after I sold it. |

Thank you mvanhorn8893 when I look at the second picture of the front of the car the front head light looks further ahead than the passenger in relationship to the nose, the guy I talked to claims the Cobra they made the moulds off of was not square on mine even the rear is off set or maybe i need glasses

So i guess what I am saying if you put a straight edge across the head lights you will see a difference where the nose is

I've added some photos to the original album. When I run a string around the headlights and measure to the nose on both sides very close to 5 1/2".
It might be easier to identify if it is a contemporary body from photos of the engine bay and trunk. Trunk has a recess for the battery, all trunk, passenger compartment and engine bay inner fenders are part of the contemporary body. Contemporary sold trunk and engine bay aluminum kits to cover those fiberglass inner panels as well. Kit I bought and build https://imgur.com/a/iYGlq Underside of body https://imgur.com/yWNj4Pl Torsion Bar car there is a couple photos of engine bay for difference in inner structor. https://www.classicautomall.com/vehi...ry-classic-427 Mike |
Thanks for the help i am convinced it is a Contemporary.

I had a body and frame that were purchased from Contemporary separately. Neither one had a serial number.

read this first. Photo size has to be very small to post on site so almost best to create link to your photo share site like IMGUR or similar site. |
Does any one have picture of where the stamp is on the frame? Thanks
