427 help

I’m trying to see if I can get some help to figure out what I have. I bought a 427 long block from a friend who has had it for years and the story I got with it is it is one of 13 engines that Holman Moody built for Carol Shelby to put in, the 13 cobras that he was building for some purpose. The engine is currently at the machine shop so I do not have many pictures but I do know that most of the normal markings that are on a 427 are not there and it does have a stamp that says HM00013CS… he said it’s a 1965 block with medium riser heads. I know pictures will help much more so I will make my way to the machine shop and get pictures. Thanks.

Staged73,
I can't help with your engine question, but I can offer some advice on using this website. This site is routinely very slow to respond. New guys don't expect this an often think their post was not received and repeat it. That results in duplicate posts. Please do us and yourself a favor and give the system much more time than you expect before you repeat a post. . . . And welcome to the forum. I think there are people with the expertise you are seeking.

The known stamping for any H&M motor in the 60's would be "HM00013", the "CS" is bogus, which also makes me think the "HM00013" may be bogus as well. Do you have any pictures of the stamped "HM00013" you can post? I ask as H&M was very specific with the stamp set they used for identification purposes.

You might also go to the FE engine site ..... Fordfe.com. Lot of very knowledgeable people there on the FE .
Another thought that just hit me , Holman and Moody ( I think ) is still in business . They`re located in the Charlotte area and may be able to help on the ID you`re looking for .
