Superformance value
A friend of mine is taking on the task of selling a Superformance for a deceased relative and has no idea what the car is worth, so is seeking advice and informed opinions on what a good asking price would be. Here's info on the car and some photos. You can see in the one photo two covered cars in the background, The one in the center bay is a 'vette that is also for sale, so he's a legit car guy.
Superformance MKIII SP02479 Roush Racing 427 Windsor 550HP Holy Racing 750 CFM Carburetor Tremec 5 Speed TKO-600 manual PA Title as a 1965 2007 build Under 7700 miles https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d145f08d_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c074c191_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c074c191_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...54491448_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8a337fa7_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e071f67c_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...dce6d5be_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...364db32d_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...30028fe4_b.jpg If you're knowlegeable about Superformance values, please take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks, Kevin |
I'd say $65-75K is about normal.
Ask another SPF owner $100-130K because they saw one "just like it" sell at a Barrett Jackson auction last year. BAT would be the place to sell it, the one or two dealers who frequent our classifieds with their continuously posted want ads will offer 40-50K, then will sell it there for the 65-75K I quoted above. It's a very nice looking car, but if an estate is looking to liquidate you probably ought to consider Bring A Trailer for all of the cars. You can try cobracountry.com with an asking price of the BAT reserve but the time for them can be quite long. BAT will get the thing gone as soon as you can schedule it (them).

beautiful cobra I wish I had the money I'd snatch it up right now, good luck selling it !

When I decide to sell a car.....I price it to sell.....if it was me....65k...you are going to pay a fee at an auction, but with no reserve it will be gone...;)
|
This seems about right. The average selling price on BaT for SPF Cobras of this vintage was a touch over $68,000 USD.

65K is pretty low considering replacement cost with a new unit. Granted there are design improvements as time went on, but 65K would barely replace the roller let alone adding a power train. If you set the reserve at BAT (if any) at 65K it will absolutely sell but probably get substantially more than that (unless it's a bad day :) )

Agree - 60s is toooo low
Happy to help you is you would be interested in consigning with us. Jeff@nostalgicmotoring.com |
Thanks Jeff. I just wrote an email to my friend and passed your contact info along.

Bring a trailer could make for a quick sale, but the cobra sales there seem soft lately. You may leave $8-15k on the table.

The value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it at a place and a point in time.....if you are in no hurry, take your time and you may get a better price and get the attention of more potential buyers....
....when I decide to sell a car, I want to sell it and move on....so time is more important to me than money... |
Thanks for all the feedback. I’ve passed it all along to my friend and he’s deciding what to do.

Kevin, if you look @ Bring A Trailer, in the last 6-months, most with the same options sold or bid to 60-75K. The big plus on this one Roush engine. I've dealt with 6-8 Superformance in last 2-3 years as low as 45K (940miles, with leaks) to 80K (Well sorted, 15,000Miles) You're in the ballpark @65K. Cheers Tom.

Thanks again for all the comments to help establish the value. He got it listed on Bring A Trailer:
