Power Steering?

As I get older, it is getting harder to maintain muscle and strength. In the past, I have driven my Cobra on rallies of 12 hours and more many times. But now, I get very tired after a couple of hours. Most of the problem is the very heavy steering. My MGB rack is very fast with only 2 turns from lock to lock and the 245 width front tires take a lot of muscle to get around tight turns. I have thought of buying a Porsche or Corvette, but man, after driving the Cobra, they are BORING!

So, I am looking for a solution and I believe that hydraulic power steering is the best solution. However, nobody makes a LHD MGB size steering rack that will fit in an Arntz/Butler car. I have contacted every possible place with no luck. I am beginning to think that the less ideal Electronic Power Steering is the only solution. I have studied all the YouTube videos about using Toyota Prius power steering units and many others, but that seems weak and too cheap to put on my car. I am leaning towards a EPAS Performance Kit with a GPS receiver which will automatically adjust the amount of assistance to be strong at low speed while parking and lighter at high speeds for better steering feel. This is an expensive option at $1,800 but considering the importance of precise steering control for staying alive, it seems worth it.

I would guess that some of you have been through this and may have some suggestions and information to help me make the right decisions on this project. Please chip in with any advice or ideas. Except, for working out with weights more, I am already doing that!

Check out Flaming River's electric power steering. They have a bunch of OEM-like features, such as speed and situation-sensitive features, that make it very nice, and you don't have p/s pumps or fluid to maintain.

You might want to check out this site. I bought a unit from a Saturn Vue to use in my Arntz. I never got around to installing it, but it looks like it would work.
