DV - while having the full "Presidential" style bike escort was an unbelievable finale last year, it seemed a shame that there were relatively few Cobras taking part to justify the Police resources used.

I really loved the cruise, and the memory of it (along with the whole weekend) will be with me forever, but if it represents a large financial burden to secure the police presence I wonder if that money might be better off straight into CF's pocket.

Then again, if you're calling on special favours from your old workmates - LET'S DO IT!!!!! **)

DV,

Craig makes a good point.

If we need to saturate the route with police to keep the route safe, and if it's anything like we do business down here, most of them will be in an off duty/overtime status and looking to cash in on this special assignment.

But, if you get them to volunteer, or assigned to normal traffic posts while on regular duty, I say let's give it a shot and I'll change my vote from no to and loud YES!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that Santa filled your stockings with everything on your wish list.

My two cents...

I was fortnuate enough to not be too far back in the queue during last year's parade and I had coverage at every intersection by motorcycle mounted police. I didn't run into any intersections I can remember without at least one officer being present and controlling cross traffic. From that standpoint, at least from where I was, there were little problems.

My only complaint would be that the group just sorta petered out when we ran out of Columbus...leaving several of us wondering where the hell we were, where we needed to be to get back to the hotels, or whatever. I followed a bunch of giddies as they tried to find their way back to the Quaker Steak and Lube for a quick beer-n-burger before they headed back to the hotel....wound up getting my ass lost and driving all over until I ran into some Cobra-ites heading the other direction...a quick U-turn and a couple of trips to the red line caught me up with them. Turns out they were headed back to QSL, too, so all was in harmony once again. Got lost again leaving the QSL - just took a wrong turn off the expressway....my fault, no problem...should have paid more attention to the signs!

But, having said all that, remember that us Rebs don't venture north of the Mason-Dixon line too often...too far behind enemy lines for most of us, donchaknow... :3DSMILE:

This year, I'll be more careful about having a city map, and hopefully, there will be better maps and written directions in our registration packets...

So...I guess from my humble perspective, anyway....LET"S DO IT!

Speed

The speeds must be kept down a bit as we go from place to place as a group. Hitting 85 in close quarters on direct access roads is not OK! So ever leads the groups this year. Lets keep it down! Or I will just meet you there!

Hello Ed,

I have not been to the DVSF I or II and with the Coupe being done and me being there for III I look forward to the run through Columbus. All of the guys I talked to about the different events from time gone by have said that the run through Columbus was one of the highlights.

BTW...make sure that the A/C in the Coupe is up to the hot weather we are anticipating in June.
