You're right. The only point that I was making, is that you can't buy a cobra say for $30,000. Then tell the DMV that it cost $3,500.

As you probably know by now, California is mired in debt. Gov. Davis wants to raise state sales tax another 1+%. That means we'll be paying 9%. I think that will be the highest in the nation. Hell! I'm just a retired mailman, who own's a small accounting & income tax practice. It's all I can do, to keep racing oil in my SPF........Does anyone feel my pain.

Hi there gents...
As some of you may recall, I have been thru the grinder with the DMV starting back in Dec. of 2001. As of yesterday I have not been able to complete the reg. process. The standard response is " wait for sb1758 to clear then try again.
Well, I went down to the DMV and started the process. 2 hours later I have my serial # and am waiting for the forms to get to the BAR so I can schedule an appointment. Here are some fine print pointers I learned yesterday;
1. My cobra is titled as a 1966 comp with Texas reg.& title. California would not recognize that and have required me to title and register as a 2002, smog exempt spcn. ( I was under the impression that the BAR made that determination, not DMV.( Any comments out there?)
2. I made sure that DMV understood that this was a kit car, constructed by others and that I bought it as a running vehicle. They still held me to the "kit car" monniker.
At this point I am tired of all the hassle and bullsh!t I have had to put up with from DMV,CHP and BAR. I only want to drive my car!!!
I guess if I get the process done, I win. If I had to do this over again I would take it to Arizona and live there!!
Better luck to the next guy.
Mark

Right Lew..

I just wish the govenor would say look. We are in debt.. I need $1,000. from each of you if you want to stay here.. If you can't pay you have to leave..

Either way the problem is solved.. Beyond that anyone who voted for ths clown needs to pay my share.. Remember this was Gov. Jerry "moonbeam" Brown's Chief of Staff.. A socialist from day 1..

Read the Communist Manifesto.. Read the things Joseph Graham Davis Jr. (Gray) has done for (to) California.. It might surprise you.. Particularly the part about collective ownership of private infrastructure.. i.e. taking over the power grid, (Independent System Operator) forcing P. G.& E. into bankruptcy to keep him from taking the power distribution network (power lines) they built over the last 80 years..

You know I pay $800 a year above my normal state and local taxes (which are $2400. a year) to fund my local schools despite not having any kids..

Standby if you smoke.. Your $3.85 pack is going to $5.00.. Cigars will go up again too.. A good cigar in California is $12. It will be $15.. I'd suggest a little Jeffersonian rebellion.. Oh yea they banned our "assault weapons".. Doh..

A proper thinking professor of Political Science, the only known specimen of such an item, was asked to address the difference between the Republican and Democratic Parties in the United States.
"A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they happened upon a homeless person.
The Republican gave the homeless person his business
card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took 20 dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.
The Democrat was very impressed, and when they happened upon another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into
the Republican's pocket and got out 20 dollars. He kept 15 for administrative fees and gave the homeless person five.
Now, you understand the difference between Republicans and Democrats."

You poor calif people How did Gray out get in again??????

We (Atlanta and GA) finally threw out a bunch of lib pukes and got a republican Gov 1st one since reconstruction and a new republican Senator, got rid of Cynthia Tucker(congresswoman) of the 'I dunt no nutin about birten no babies miss scarlet' crowd. Described as the cutest dumbest person in the house. I guess which adjectives may now be used to describe the congresswoman from Washigton(I think) who praised that terrorist bin laden
