tires

Just ordered a set of Goodyear tires from R Kraus.
Bought the last set he had, he said they are on back order
for the next 3 to 4 months.

Hope he's on the straight and narrow, since the set
I bought was "a little marked-up".

He knocked $20 off of each tire due to scuffing on the white letters.

Any ideas on how to resore the white letters?
I can see it now, the tires will read:
GO D EAR

Yep, just my luck.

Todd...Get em mounted and take to the car wash and wash away all the old paint. If you like pre-soak them with some simple green or similar product. Makes the paint come off easier. Next go to the craft store and get some water based acrylic paint. I forget the brand but it comes in a tube and the color is Titanium White. Also purchase a good quality flat brush. For them to look GREAT it takes about three coats and patience. Use a black sharpie to touch up areas where you get over the line a little...........but honestly I have never done it as my loving wife takes care of it. I take the wheels off the car and roll them into the living room so she can be comfortable. It takes her about 6 hours to do all 4 and you can ask anyone in our club about my tires as they always look perfect and crisp. You can add additional coats during the year when they need it and still look good. I completely strip them about once a year right before we go to Austin for our annual event. Hope this helps.

gary-
You've got yourself one good woman there! I thought I had it made when my wife said she liked the Cobra and wanted to get one, but the idea of wheeling the tires in the living room so she can repaint the letters is beyond comprehension. How did you convince her to do that???? I must learn from you, oh great one

Todd-
If the letters are messed up, why don't you just mount them blackwall out?? :D :D   (That's a big help, isn't it)

letter or not to letter

I kinda like the white letters facing out.
I would love to say I'm 100% function over form,
but reality is it's more like a 85/15 split.

I'm trying to gear up for some track use and driving instruction, the tires were step II, getting the Cobra running again was step I. Next I need some safety gear, and a good instructor.

I heard that the white letters take 2 full seconds off of your lap times!!

Thanks
