Hi-Tech Aluminum 427

I have an opportunity to purchase a Hi-Tech aluminum 427 replica
from a friend. This is an exact copy of CSX3002. I know that Hi-Tech is out of business and it is not always good to purchase a car that is no longer manufactured, but this is such a beautiful car that I am strongly considering it. The owner is a long time friend of mine and I purchased my 66 Shelby (that would probably need to be sold) from him. As I am new to this forum, I would appreciate any input members may have about Hi-Tech replicas.
Thanks

A "friend" eh?%/

BTW, there are a couple threads on Hi Techs posted over the last few days.

Buy it!

Tim,
If this is a serious deal and you can purchase a "COMPLETE"
Hi Tech, that is, all the panels and accessories,
grab it! Hi-Tech built excellent glass as well as only a few aluminum cars. Tell us about what is included in the deal and what your friend is asking.!

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's a PERFECT clone of 3002.
If you have any pics post them to be sure. That particular Hi-Tech would be able to use Shelby or Kirkham parts if needed, so being that Hi-Tech is gone doesn't matter. (there's also a guy in Phoenix AZ. that has quite a few parts)
Is this particular car blue with white stripes and a 427s/o?

It is the one that is the exact replica of 3002, it was displayed at Laguna Seca when the original was there also. Dry sump, front braced roll bar, 289 body, 289 dash, shoe box oil cooler. I have been in the car a number of times and we had it at Road America last summer. It has white Le Mans stripes, white side pipes, #98 meat balls, and 427 S/O with aluminum heads. We are discussing price at this time, we have not firmed anything up. The owner and I were roommates in college many years ago.

That's a really nice car and if you can purchase for a "reasonable cost" it will be an excellent deal.
Good Luck!

Thank you for the positive feedback about the car. It's good to know that Hi-Tech is considered a quality product. I'll go after the car.

This is my first post but I have some info for you, I met one of the guys who used to be associated with Hi-Tech. They have a new business www.Cambridgeautoracing.com take a look, they still make replicas of 3002. Also I emailed FFR about some of the things people said they may be offering in the near future, I specifically asked about aluminum bodied cars and, FIA replicas. If I could figure out how to attach it I'd send the reply but here are the answers from "John Clark, R&D Engineer, Factory Five Racing":

"We are probably not going to offer the aluminum body."

"We are not planning on offering an FIA 289 model."

This reply was sent to me on 11/26/02.

Check out the Cambridge Site they also offer a FIA replica and their cars are constructed like Hi-Techs, just like a Cobra chassis, suspension, etc.
