CSX 4000 on Barrett Jackson-question? anyone/Evan

A red alum body 4000 series Cobra with alum Shelby FE brought ,I think $140K tonite. My question is, Does anyone know FOR SURE what Goodyear tire was on this car. Large Goodyear white letter tires 2" or more in height. It would really be nice if someone also knew the size too. Evan got your ears on? These tire look REAL nice. Wonder if they would look good on my unreal Cobra. Evan, I know you can find out, even if you have to call the old man himself at home.

The red CSX 4000 car had the standard Goodyear Eagle GTII, the blue CSX3000 ($235K) had the large white racing tires which do not meet DOT requirments but many still use.

Hi,
You can get the goodyears from roger krause racing, they give you lots of choices and the correct sizes. They are nice for looks but these tires are not dot approved. Around here the cops crack down on muscle cars and will impound your car for street racing and check for dot tires. For me it's not worth having my cobra locked up in a impound lot for a day or 2 until you can bail it out.
just my 2 cents....
Perry.

Perry, I agree. Was looking for a tire to show the car with. Is this a Eagle treaded rain tire or a vintage tire similar to Blue streak. both are non-dot approved. Do you know anything about size

Snake Farmer: The guys here already hit the nail on the head. I believe Turk had the Goodyear race tires on his ERA. They are very sticky and pick up alot of rocks = stone chips. Plus they are not DOT approved.

I didn't see the CSX that was auctioned off. Don't really follow that stuff. Thanks for the info though.

Seems like Turk may be right about the investment value of the Shelby.

Scuse my ignorance here .............but what is it about these tires that the dot is frowning on?

Evan...see my other post... that can't be considered the norm...The red CSX4000 was a special vehicle with special features for Carrol's 80th...it may have qualified as a charitable contribution.

Anyone know what tire Lewis Downs is/was running on his Contemporary Cobra. some type of Goodyear vintage tire.

Re:

Yes, see my photo gallery. Roger Krause will sell them to you. If you have a problem getting them, I have a friend that is a dealer that can get them. Warning: they pick up lots of crap/pebbles on the street. If your car is a show car and you love your paint job, and you use these tires, you'll be hating yourself shortly thereafter. If you notice, most of the Cobras that are sold with them are new cars that have not been driven much yet...

THe specific rain tires that are blue streaks are trans-am rain tires. They do not manufacture the treaded ones anymore in 15". You can still get the slicks. The newer ones have Goodyear in big letters and eagle in small letters (which you can choose not to color)

I have a set of the old ones on my car...they wander (bias ply) and they throw rocks everywhere...if you have paint you like don't get them get a good set of street tires.
