A new record?

Last weeks we all witnessed the selling of a NOS FE block on eBay for $7350.00.
That was then. It is a different story this week!!

Re:

Hi Turk,

to someone with an "R" code Galaxy or Fairlane, this particular 427 would be desireable if they were trying to restore one of these cars. I have a friend that's into R-code Galaxy's and they have a definite following.

IMHO, it would be a waste to put this particular motor in a replica Cobra if you ask me. I'd be afraid to use it too much. Plus, all this nice new FE stuff is coming out, and more is coming. I predict now that someone like Dart or Edelbrock will "actually" come out with an affordable, proven, aftermarket FE 427 block in the next 2-5 years. As soon as this happens, the only people that will be paying high prices for this R-code stuff are these restoration people.

See Ya.

Maybe thats the R stands for,,,,,Restoration,,,,,,lol

REALly,

I think the "R" stands for Ridiculus...

Man, that is a lot more money than my first Rolex cost!

The auction may have ended, but that's a pretty stiff price. I'd like to know if the bidder is for real.

Get ready to sell--when it hits $10K would be a good time. :3DSMILE:

Can't believe this!

Double Venom 01-26-2003 01:54 PM

The last R-code, running, in these parts was going for 15K! Don't know if he ever sold it or not. Sheesh!

You gotta understand that world...

As Duane states, the 'concours restoration' world is a crazy, bizzaro world where the dollar takes last place.

For the Fairlane/Galaxie bunch... this block is part of the Grail.

Turk, like the block last week, and this one too, they are "car" blocks, from the initial production.. not service, spare or replacement blocks..which command a lesser value in the 'concours' world.

This "thru the looking glass" crew will pay $700 for a rearview mirror...or $250 for an emblem, if it's the right part....I've seen it.

That's their fun... but it comes at a price.

...I can relate.

Excaliber 01-26-2003 05:33 PM

shhhhh,,,,,you mean the 63 doors on my 62 Healey aren't "right"?
Well the PRICE was right!

Heck I wouldn't even be able to DRIVE a Concours car, it might get something like a "rain drop" on it!

Ernie
