Any JCF Slabsides in Northern Cal?
Been ghosting for a while and thinking about moving up from my classic Mustang to a cobra replica. I've always been partial to the original 289 street cars. I've been tracking some manufactuers down and have come up with Hawke cars in England (with a new importer) and JCF in Washington. Since I live in Nor cal I was wondering if anyone in my area has a one of these cars so I can see one in person. Thanks for any help.

Slabside Cobra

Have you looked at www.Cambridgeautoracing.com ? They feature a British Racing green 289 on their home page. Their cars are authentic under the fiberglass too. |
That British racing green car looks like a COB car, it is right hand drive.

It sure looks like the COB car in Rinsey Mills or Brian Laban's book - I can't remember whick. Regatrds, Keith |
I think a CC member in Oregon has/had a JCF that was really nice--anybody out there have more to add?
|
I didn't see the 289 car as an option in the kit section. Is it simply not advertised?

Re: Yes.
Maxstang,
Yes. What part of NorCal do you live in? A good friend of mine has a nice Silver JCF slab-side with a 289 / dual carb setup. We sort of have a matched 289/427 pair. He bought the body/chassis from John/JCF and fabricated quite a bit himself by choice. He fabricated a unique (3rd version) dual x-over exhaust system for it that gives it almost a Ferrariesque sort of tone at wide open throttle. Very cool and fun little car. He does not use the internet much, so if you send me your email address, I can introduce you. He is near Sacramento... |
Thanks All!!
Thanks all for the quick responses. Duane, I left you a private message as the system wont let me email you. I looked into Camebrige (sp?). I really like the original frame emphasis, but they don't have a slabside. Kind of particular to that style. Thanks again everyone. -Malcolm

Typical attendance is 25+ people and 15+ Cobras in the parking lot. The Address is: Athens Burgers 6999 Dublin Blvd. Dublin, CA 925 803 8135 We are there every Saturday form 7- to about 9:30 a pretty broad selection of replicas and original cars. BACC rules:No fees, no membership,no rules, Everyone's a President Have fun !!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D Tony R. |
Re:
Maxstang,
I did get your PM. I'll talk with him this weekend. You'll like his JCF slabside. Every year at Laguna Seca, people think its an orginal... I provided you with my email in the PM I sent back to you. Check your PM list. |
Thank you again for all the replies. It's great to know there are folks out there who have as great an interest in these cars as I do. I'll try and make a Saturday in Dublin soon. Chucks car looks great on his website and I wish I had his fabrication skills! Thanks again to all. -Malcolm

JCF
Maxstang,
JCF is located on southern Oregon coast in Coos Bay, not Washington. You may have figured this out or been told via PM by now, but just in case I thought I would chime in. Might not be too far for you to make a drive up some day and visit his shop. Regards, Mike :) |
JCF?
Just curious, what is a JCF Cobra? Can anyone elaborate on details or a web site?
|
JCF
John,
JCF = John's Custom Fabracation At this time no web site. You can call them for a brochure. They make both the 427 and 289 (slab-side) body cars in fiberglass. John's Custom Fab 1515 Newmark Ave Coos Bay, Oregon 97420 541-888-9313 Regards, Mike |

Thanks for the info, do you have any details on frame config, suspension, etc.? I go out to the coast every year or so just to see the sights and see a friend of mine in Beaverton, so maybe I'll check them out.
Thanks again:cool: If I had looked at your pictures first I could have answered my own questions. By the way your car looks very nice, good work! |
