Kind of a Slow Day in My Shop this Past Saturday..........

Not a full crew but the guys were busy this past weekend. Surprisingly, many offer to pay ME to turn a wrench. Such generosity. Happy looking and name the mystery Cobra!!!!

#98

Middle car is CSX 3002 which I drove when owned by Tim Donovan. I have extensive photo's and if David K ever gets around to sending me a fea photo's of his rendition, who knows?
That was the only competition 427 car ever campaigned by Shelby American. The first car is the flip-top I think..

Cal Metal 02-03-2003 11:50 AM

CSX 2196 aka the Flip Top, ostensibly the most revered and collectible of the BB cars. You guys are too good. Note, if you can, the narrow case Toploader.

Next question. Where is this taking place and what race are they preparing for?

PDHse 02-03-2003 01:12 PM

I would guess it is the Shelby factory at the LAX airport getting ready for the nassau race.?????But then again did,nt they move in the new facilility after the nassau race. I give up.

Bumpster 02-03-2003 04:28 PM

Cal - I'm guessing Sebring because that building looks like an aircraft hanger.

3002

Geoff did both own CSX 3002 and restoreand sell it for the New Owner Tim Donovan around 1985. I believe but don't hold me to it that Tim might have paid around $150,000....
Could you imagine?

John McMahon 02-03-2003 09:22 PM

Rumor has it that Evan Harris's CSX4000 is somewhere in this photo! ;) ;) ;) %/ **)

Blue66 02-04-2003 05:26 AM

I can "almost" remember the car down there...Long time ago!!! Big $$$ at the time. Have to rattle his cage some day.

Dan
