Hal's Back Out on the Road!!!
I am a patient man. I also like speed and power, among other things. So just after Christmas, took the Great Stroker up to the Olthoff's, in NC, for what Bob Olthoff calls "a look-see."
This included one of Dennis' new full width higher four-brace rollbar, in chrome. New CV boots, a set of his new massive Windsor Urethane motor mounts (which he had done in red just for my car, others are black), a tweak to one of my two Halon systems, alignment, some "secret" drivetrain modifications, and most stunning of all, two yellow "rookie stripes" or left front fender hashmarks. He showed me some pics of the Superformance Coupe, now nearing production. Stunning car. How do you spell "carbon fiber?" Why anyone would waste money on the new Viper is beyond me. The hash marks make my car look totally different, as much as swapping out hubcaps for Halibrands would. He had them painted on, and i can't believe how much they just set the car off, contrasting against the red/white stripe paint. I had to take it out for a brief spin, met up with another gentleman from GA buying a new SPF there, too. I had to leave it there until i can go up with my business partner (in his C5), sat AM to pick it up. From there i am going to drive down to Charleston, and cruise that historic city. I just love to idle thru the throngs of tourists and shoppers, and park out side the expensive restaurants. Last fall, a valet moved a turbo Porsche out into the rain so i could park under the canopy. I didn't even eat there!! I suspect it will be near 500 miles before i get back late at night. I have noted of late, with my car in for service and upgrades, that the local Boxsters have been out feeling all liberated: i see them flexing their scrawny powerplants, acting all smug and superior. Like young Wildebeests when the lions are taking a nap. But they will find out soon enough that the brutal, intimidating, merciless SPF, now so easily recognized with it's new yellow marker on the front, is back out on patrol, hunting them one by one. I am so happy to be back driving my car again; thanks to the Olthoff crew, and my wife for being away in Kansas for the weekend. And God Bless the Astronauts and their loved ones, for all eternity. Vaya Con Dios, my Heroes. |
Hello Hal,
Well that sounds (pardon the pun) positively wonderful. All those changes and upgrades, I mean. So I looked in your gallery and what did I see? Nuttin'! I hoped for a glimpse of the ostentatious new yellow stripes, not because my car is also red with a white stripe and might benefit from a similar application, but merely to observe how glorious they may look, you see. Seems to me you've said you know a bit about photography, yet I don't see any evidence of it  Bottom line: may we have a picture? :D In good fun, Tom |
I like picking off the BMW Z3's after "waking up from the nap"!!!
