Why not have the pipes exit just in front of the rear fenders--you'll get the sidepipe sound without the FIA sidepipes? It's a lot easier than the rear exit, and you won't distract from the comp look of the quick jacks back there.%/ |
Corky, I like the Weber look, but the ones I've I've seen are pricey. I'll probably end up going with the single 4 barrel(although I've always been a sucker for a 6 pack, did they ever come on a sbf?).
U2, I'll have to pass on the sidepipes and 289 wheels. Why the 302 instead of the 351(302 dressed as a 289?), why the .331 instead of the .355? Everyone seems to be a fan of the TKO 5spd, but I am(was) leaning towards the toploader. Chuck, sweet motor. Is it a crate or a build. What are the specs. Jam, Jam, Jamoski, for once you get a handle on my handle!:D Great(warped?) minds think alike. I don't like the FIA sidepipes or the rear exit under car exhaust on the FIA street cars, I hope I can find someone to twist me up some stainless steel pipes locally. |
I have been kinda wondering about aluminum. For a daily driver, my painted SPF is just about perfect. I just wash and occasionally wax it. A few nicks here and there. I am careful to avoid spotting on the aluminum parts, like my firewall and Trigo's. And my ceramic coated sidepipes. Engine cleaners, and stuff to wash off my tires has to be kept absolutely off the aluminum parts.
But how on earth do you keep an unpainted aluminum car from being spotted and speckled? If i find it a bit of a chore to not cause surface corrosion on my aluminum parts, how does one keep a street driven aluminum car pristine? Do you clear-coat it, or just wax it every morning? I can't imagine not having a painted car, if one wants to actually put it out on the street. Just something i have been wondering about for a long time. |

Mine isn't painted...5 years. My brother's isn't painted...5 years. It just sort of gets this cool patina--and no one ever asks, "Is it fiberglass?" :D :D :D We are definately not waxers...but we are windexers. I think you need to try on some aluminum for size. David:D :D :D |

The 4.6 is a motor I aquired from Pauls Automotive in Cinn ohio. His shop is doing wonders with the modular mtrs. This one has after market rods, pistons, fuel Inj sys and vortex super charger. Depending on fuel they claim 500 -600 Hp. I will probally use a switchable twin program chip to go between fuels. Should be a hooot. I like jamo's idea for pipes! The best Chuck |
